What is Eye Migraine ?
When a person thinks of a migraine, they often think of sickening and debilitating pain. While this is commonly associated with headaches, the term migraine is also used with temporary dysfunctions in the eyes as well. The term is called an Eye Migraine; however, these occurrences differ a great deal from the migraines that everybody associates migraines with.
The big difference is that with ocular migraines or an Eye Migraine, there is no pain associated with it. This seems to fly in the face of the term migraine, but in this case, there is no pain, aching or throbbing. That is not to say it is pleasant by any stretch of the imagination. That is because these ocular migraines normally accompany a migraine headache as well.
Usually, when you are experiencing a migraine headache, an Eye Migraine or several eye migraines are common. The occurrence will normally be in the form of auras and disturbances such as zigzag lines, spots and so forth in your visual field.
Typically, only one eye is generally effected and the effects can start in any portion of the eye. However, what people tend to report is these auras and visual disturbances will start in the corner of their eye and slowly move to the other side of the eye. Often times this will repeat itself several times over because a typical time frame for an Eye Migraine is around an hour or so.
Of course, this moving from one side or another is not always the case. Typically, what is generally affected is the field of vision, so if you happen to switch your field of vision during an ocular migraine, the chances are good that the effects of the migraine will switch as well. However, the moving of the migraine visualizations seem to be a common and standard effect for most people experiencing a migraine of this type.
Migraines are not fun and they can disrupt a persons life is some more severe cases. Add to that the visual distortions that come from an Eye Migraine and you are now in a very bad way. If you experience these problems regularly, it is best to speak with your doctor immediately so that you can receive proper treatment for you condition.
